HISTORY
Beginning:
In 1988, the children’s song competitions “Children’s Disc” and “Eurodisc” are held in Kardzhali and Sofia
- In 1994, the first edition of the International children’s competition for soloists “Song - Magic” is held in the resort of Sunny Beach
- In 1997 and 1998, the festivals are held seasonally, under the common name of “We XXI Century” – in Sofia, Albena resort, and Borovets
- Since 2017, Art Center Karnolski is an associate member of the Department of Schools with Profiling and Advanced Music Studies (SUPRIM) and the European Music School Union (EMU)
„MAGIA ITALIANA“
In 1999, Art Center “Karnolsky” organized for the first time the festival “Magia Italiana” in the town of Comacchio, Italy with over 600 children from Bulgaria, Austria, Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine, and Italy taking part.
- In 2019, the XVIIIth edition of the Festival will take place in Rimini, Italy.
- The beautiful Adriatic coast and the welcoming region of Emilia-Romagna has been providing its stages for the past 18 years to participants from across Europe and the world to showcase their talent and have fun, taking home the memory of an unforgettable Italian summer.
„WE XXI CENTURY“
The festival takes place since 1992
- The first hosts of the event are the northern Black Sea resorts of Albena and Kranevo in Bulgaria
- Today the event takes place in the most popular Bulgarian resort – Sunny Beach
- In 2018, the 26th edition of the festival was held, in which over 300 talented young people between the age of 7 and 35 participated.
„ORPHEUS IN ITALY“
The festival has been organized by Art Center “Karnolsky” since 2007, in the Adriatic resort Lido di Jesolo, located some 20km from Venice.
- The festival takes place with the support of the Italian non-governmental organization I.T.A.C.A., whose Chairperson – Mr. Giorgio De Faveri is also the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Veneto region, as well as the Municipality of Jesolo.
- Since 2012, the festival has been held under the patronage of the Vice-President of the Republic of Bulgaria, and has received the blessing of Monsignor Giuseppe Camiloto – Archbishop of the Basilica “San Marco” in Venic;
- In 2017, the Vice President of Bulgaria Mrs. Iliana Yotova officially opened the 10th Jubilee edition of the international festival "Orpheus in Italy". The Bulgarian National Television was a media partner of the event.
„ORPHEUS IN SPAIN“/ “THE CROWN OF ORPHEUS IN SPAIN“
The festival takes place for the first time from the 12th to the 18th of April 2015 in Malaga, Spain.
- The festival is held under the patronage of the Vice-President of the Republic of Bulgaria – Mrs. Margarita Popova.
- Since 2016 the festival will be with new name – “THE CROWN OF ORPHEUS IN SPAIN”
- The goal of the Art Center is to turn this event into a celebration for the Bulgarian community in Spain.
NATIONAL CONTEST “ROAD TO GLORY”
The first edition of the contest is held in 2013.
- In 2018, the contest in Sofia enjoys unprecedented interest – attracting over 1300 participants in various genres – pop, folklore, classical ballet, modern dances, instrumental music, and others.
SOCIAL EVENTS
Honorary Awards “THE HEART OF SOFIA” and “THE HEART OF BULGARIA”
Accompanying the initiative “Different, but Together” is the handing of the annual awards “THE HEART OF SOFIA” and “THE HEART OF BULGARIA”.
- The awards are given to distinguished public figures in the sphere of arts, culture, education, sports, and other fields, who have contributed to the positive development of our capital through their artistic and social activities.
VOCAL STUDIO “RAINBOW”
Vocal Studio “Rainbow” was formed on March 24, 1993
- The first concert of the vocal studio was held on April 19, 1993. Throughout that year, the performances of the children from “Rainbow” were over 28.
- The singers of Vocal Studio “Rainbow” are musical hosts of the festivals “Orpheus in Italy”, “We XXI Century”, “Magia Italiana”, and “Orpheus in Spain”, which are organized by Art Center “Karnolsky”.
- Today, Vocal Studio “Rainbow” trains over 50 children, divided in three age groups. The studio also offers individual training.
- The repertoire includes over 300 songs from various musical genres, such as: choir and gospel music, classics in rhythm, folklore, pop, rock, folk-jazz, rap, R&B, and others. They are performed from solos up to groups of 8.
- The scenic events of the Studio include not only vocal performances, but also theatrical etudes and dances accompanying the songs.
- The main Artistic Director of Vocal Studio “Rainbow” is Mrs. Snezhana Polihronova-Karnolsky.
- The producer of “Rainbow” is Mr. Dimitar Karnolsky Jr.
GOALS
- Striving to develop and promote the arts for children and youth, providing prestigious forums for the expression of their talent
- Inclusion of socially disadvantaged children and children from different ethnic and minority groups
- Creating conditions for intercultural exchange, new friendships, awareness of different cultures and traditions, and education in tolerance and understanding
- Creating conditions for discussion and exchange of good practices in the artistic education of children and youth
ACHIEVEMENTS
- Art Center “Karnolsky” considers as an achievement the experience derived from consistently organizing national and international festivals and contests for the past 27 years.
- The pupils of Vocal Studio “Rainbow” have been honoured with a series of prestigious awards at national and international contests, among which “Slavic Bazaar” in Belarus, “Riga Symphony” in Latvia, “Universong” in Tenerife, Spain, and many others.
- The soloist of “Rainbow” Mariam Mavrova conquered the television audience, reaching the final in the TV show “The Big Hopefuls” and the final of the national selection for the Junior Eurovision song contest.
